&lt;p&gt;MacVim is not different from &quot;regular&quot; Vim when it comes to where to put runtime files: in your case, the files should go into &quot;~/.vim/syntax/&quot; (see &quot;:h mysyntaxfile&quot; inside Vim).&lt;/p&gt;
